Located in Palmyra, Syria, the sanctuary of Baalshamîn was erected in the 3rd century BC and was destroyed in 2015 by the Islamic State. In 2017, the University of Lausanne launched through its Institute of Archaeology and Sciences of Antiquity a vast project related to the archives of Paul Collart. Faced with the destruction of Syrian heritage by the group Daech/ISIS in 2015, the Collart-Palmyra Project wishes, through the digitization of all documents related to the temple of Baalshamîn, to allow the preservation of the memory of this world heritage for future generations. Thanks to the numerous photographs, cards, notes, letters, and plans collected, the archives of Paul Collart constitute the best source in the world to document the sanctuary.

Following a photogrammetry carried out by Iconem, I worked in collaboration with the University of Lausanne to design a 3D model of the temple of Baalshamîn, in particular of the Byzantine structures and of the cemetery surrounding the sanctuary from archival images as well as based on the 3D surveys.
